A ceiling to dream upon

The ceiling of the Chapter House, York Minster.
Built between 1260 and 1280 (or 1286), the Chapter House is 63 feet across and 63 feet high. There is no central pillar. The "cage" around which the dome is built is made of Oak.
It's the most beautiful part of the magnificent Minster and I need a wider lens!

I recognised this instantly, and it's a lovely shot of the Chapter House ceiling. Good to see a fellow York resident posting!

@fbailey @rhoing @koalagardens The whole building is astonishing but the Chapter House is something special. If you manage to get in there alone it's so very peaceful.

We arrived in York at a simular time then - I arrived in 1970 as a student at St Johns.
