Mrs B's babies in waiting.

Mrs Brimstone visited the Alder Buckthorn yesterday and today I counted and marked 19 eggs, there may be more hiding. In about 10 days the minute caterpillars should begin to emerge and if I'm VERY lucky I might even see one do so.

Great inspection. I learn much from your studies.

@rontu thank you, I’m pleased to hear that. It may surprise you to know that every year when I raise caterbugs I learn something new too. It’s a fascinating hobby - and of course helps the insects themselves.

Your image stacking is amazing - as are these soon-to-be caterpillars.

@milaniet thank you but MY image stacking is done by the very clever camera. This one is the Olympus TG5 Tough. Pocket sized, waterproof, freeze proof. Set for 9 or 20 stacked images and it does it. All you need to do is hold it steady for a few seconds. If it didn’t do the stack it tells you. It processes the images and presents you with 2, one unstacked, the other process complete. Brilliant. It can do star trails too!

Hmm, I have the TG6. I'll have to look into those little tricks. I didn't know it was that clever.
