Childhood's end by jesika2

Childhood's end

The final moulted skin of a Brimstone caterpillar as it pupated. I always think it must be painful but have no idea if it really is. They seem to struggle and fight to shrug off that last skin and the new form is so very different.
Stacked in camera 60mm macro lens and 26mm extension tubes.

@koalagardens astonishing isn’t it? The caterpillar is about 2 inches long and the skin is folded into one eighth inch.
