A close encounter of the bird kind.

I meant to cut back the Triffid Knapweed and Triffid Marjoram that have taken over my door step and patio. Then four Goldfinches arrived for breakfast.
This one was about 3 feet away from me, the closest I've ever been to one.
Did they know the door was closed? I can't answer that, but they obviously felt very safe, none of the usual careful looking around. They just ate & ate for about 15 minutes.
