Ran into a herd this morning on the way into town. They were scattered all across the highway and in the ditches on both sides of the road. Very entertaining!
I very much like the backdrop of the high voltage power lines! Makes it a shot that stands apart from a "classic" cattle drive shot! And also puts it into a real-world context.
@vera365 Thank you, Vera. I really debated about posting this because it DIDN'T look like the "classic" cattle drive, but I was thinking just the way you were and decided to give it real-time feel. Thanks for taking time to comment! @dianaanne Thank you, Diane. It was FUN! @ivan Thank you, Ivan. @kimdavis Thank you, Kim. It was fun! They go up and down our road all the time, but this was the first time I was up close. @cruiser Thank you, Chris! Actually, my (ex-cowboy) husband says it's better if they are lined out instead of being "balled up" like this. This cowboy had some very young kids at the back of the herd and 3 dogs helping, but was actually kind of a confusing mess. Still, it was fun to be right smack in the middle of it!
Love love love this on so many levels. First I want to say how much I love your b&w processing on this. And then as Tari said it is a great contrast between old and new, but then is it? Living in a city it is easy to think this is a scene from years gone by, but in reality it is the daily life of so many people, and it sure beats intensive farming practices.
