This is a berry bush whacker made by one of the locals out of birch. I haven't whacked any bushes with it yet, but I did find some dried blackberries to demonstrate the point.

I'm told that one just taps it against a bush with ripe berries and they'll fall into the bowl...I'm sure there's more experience required than it sounds! Personally, I like the artistic nature of this and it will probably just hold a place of honor on my kitchen wall!
