Skunk Cabbage Monk's Hood by jgpittenger

Skunk Cabbage Monk's Hood

I love skunk cabbage. To me they are close to trillium in harbinging Spring. I haven't gotten a photo I liked until this one (ironically taking with my phone!) I had to go back to get a picture of this since the day before's attempt was so out of focus. This is SOCC out of the phone.
Beautiful!!

I love these flowers too - we get them in the local park. Great shot of one and it looks perfectly intact.

Sooo beautiful. It must be misnamed! How could anything this gorgeous be named for a skunk?

@sabanford I have a funny relationship with skunks- though I hated it when my dog got skunked- as a child my father called the skunk smell the perfume of Gilbertsville- a small town in Upstate NY where we went in the summers. So it reminds me of my father and summer vacation!

I drive by a patch of these growing wild, but the road has no place to pull over to get a picture. Thank you for the view.
And you do know they are there when you drive by.
