Pelican Taking Off for Dinner

Hope you all aren't yet sick of my shooting birds and trying to learn to pan holding my new lens! Wish I'd gotten a better view of the beak and eye but I love the spread wings. There has been a recent batch of little fish riding the tide into the river bringing pelicans to feed

Beautiful shot, Jane - love the water ripples behind the pelican!

Beautiful - such fabulous wings. What opportunities you have - I wonder if you can see them actually catch the fish - that would make a great action shot too!

@elsbels I totally agree but I'm such a novice with this lens that I felt lucky to manage this. It's heavy for my aged body to pan with but we'll see what practice will bring. I'm about to go on a trip so I doubt the pelicans will still be here when I return and have time to go out to the jetty again

I wish my family would come running like that to dinner at my place...it usually takes a few calls to get them all here! I really like how you caught him in action like that, wings out and water flying. good job!
