Bridge To Skunk Cabbage by jgpittenger

Bridge To Skunk Cabbage

Critiques welcome.
The skunk cabbage are blooming. This was taken on the horse trail system up behind our house. The water feature is Berry Creek and the moss covered log on the left used to be the way across but Jim and our grandson cut and carried the other logs when the old crossing started to disintegrate. I hoped to lead the eye from the bottom left corner across the logs to the bright yellow skunk cabbage on the other side. I'm not sure if it worked or not.
I am packing up for a trip to Hawaii and may not be able to post tomorrow before leaving and will be off line for about 2 weeks. I will miss seeing your photos but will have my camera and post when I return.
Thanks so much for suggestions, comments, visits, favs
Lovely greens!!!!!!

Beautiful shot. I can't see anything to critique. Have you tried a longer exposure?

@byrdlip Thanks so much. I appreciate your send the link. This foreigner doesn't know about skunk cabbage. I thought it was related to skunks... LOL.

@anazad511 When you drive by a patch, yes, they are related.

I think it works because of your choice of lighting. My eye is drawn to the yellow by the lighting and the leading line from the logs. Have a great time in Hawaii -- there's so much to photograph there!

I think the logs work well, leading your eye across the water. A great shot overall. Enjoy your holiday!

Beautiful bright greens contrasting with the dark moving water. Have a wonderful time in Hawaii.

Really vibrant shot. The way you've composed the shot really draws the eye.

It's gorgeous and I love the processing but...I'd love the see the sngle of the bridge a little less acute to the bottom of the shot. (if that makes sense.)

@swilde less on the diagonal?

Aloha! Have a safe trip. I like this very much. Color and composition work well for me. Skunk cabbage was common in Connecticut when I lived there.

@jgpittenger Probably more diagonal...So that the right hand end is higher up the rhs of the shot.

Wonderful shot. I think a tighter crop might have worked. There's a lot on the background that distracts from those lovely flowers.

Jane, you have certainly succeeded in your mission. I love the trunks starting off in the corner, and the bright green patch is certainly the strong focal point. The remainder of the background (branches and bushes) are quite busy. I would perhaps try to burn them a bit or decrease their exposure in a new layer, but overall I think you have done very well.
I'll miss your posts and your constructive comments and suggestions...But enjoy your trip!

Very lush and appealing. I have no idea what skunk cabbages are but I love the name. Lucky you - enjoy your holiday!

Fab greens. Will have to look out for the skunk cabbage in the woods here. I love its prehistoric look.

So beautiful and green!

Colours are fantastic, I can see what you're trying to go for, maybe could have got closer to the logs at the bottom next time to get more of a depth :)
