Through the Window Into the Night

Another shot taken through the window of the stone viewing hut on Cape Perpetua. In this one the milky way is visible and lots of crab boat lights. This is my birthday week, and one of the things that makes me happy during this part of the winter ins the crab boats lighting up the ocean at night. It reminds me of camp as a kid where we had a night in which canoes went out on the lake with candles. It had such a magical feeling as does this to me even though the bright lights seem to dim the stars as well as blow out highlights!
Thanks for your visit, comments, suggestions, favs and your amazing response to my texture bird experiment yesterday.
@taffy @newbank @888rachel @golftragic @pamknowler Taken with WA but not fisheye. I'm hoping there will be a break in the rain today for some fisheye fun

I am so jealous that you are able to see such a wonderful sky near where you live. I have never seen the Milky Way. We have so much light pollution that its difficult to see a good sky. I love the story of the crab boats Jane!! Happy birthday to you - I hope you have a wonderful day and fingers crossed it stops raining for you.

What a wonderful sky you have! I would love to see the Milky Way with my camera, but we have light pollution too. Happy Birthday, Jane. I hope you enjoy your week.

How interesting this shot is. I did not know that the crab boats are so close to shore.

There is a dark mysteriousness to this scene that I really like. The lights bobbing in the ocean contribute to the mystery as do the rich deep blue tones. Wonderful.

Light and darkness intermingled beautifully... Happy birthday, Jane!

You really do capture the most magnificent sky. I love the story of canoeing with candles.

Jane..this is wonderful. Love that you have captured that beautiful night sky...and the lights from the boats tell a good story. We are anxious to get a chance to do some crabbing before we head back south...in the bay and during the day of course.

@eyesmile Oh yum! Years ago when I was a Nurse Midwife, one of my mom's husband was a crab fisherman. After the birth, he gifted me with 7 just off the boat fresh crabs...one for each of us. I still remember the feast! My birthday is this next Sunday and I'm planning a bit of a photo excursion
