Best on black. One of my best childhood memories is of a huge butternut tree in Upstate NY. When we moved to OR, we planted two butternut trees. Their butternuts are disappointing but the trees are gorgeous. Jim was reading to me the other eve and I said "wait!" as I looked out the window and saw one of them in the fog. I had to go take a picture...you all know what that is like!
