Three White Pelicans Swimming In Breeding Plumage copy

Best on black for sure. This was taken on the inland waterway in Maryland. I thought they looked really elegant. The funny looking things on top of their beaks are part of their breeding wardrobe.
Thanks so much for your visits, comments, suggestions, favs

Great shot and I didn't know about the breeding beak appendage - how funny it looks. "... and its beak holds more than its belly can"

So striking, and even more so on black. I like how the white pops and that there are reflections for each.

Terrific image, love the comp and reflections!
What's weird is that a couple if days ago I revisited an image of mine with 3 white pelicans and their reflections on a dark background very similar to this. Yesterday I was judge at a photo competition where an image with 3 white pelicans, reflections and a dark background was presented. And now today this. Whaaaaa??!

So interesting. Your pelicans are so different to the ones here. I am intrigued about the things on their beaks. Never seen that before.

A wonderful line-up. Love those rippled reflections. We have some of those fellows at the local zoo. Fascinating about the appendages... apparently, they fall off when their use is done.
