Rufous Catching A Bug by jgpittenger

Rufous Catching A Bug

Best by far on black. I've always wondered what they are doing when they stick out their tongues and now I know. They are catching bugs. Hummingbirds eat both bugs and pollen (sugar syrup). What a delight it was when I looked closely at this series of shots and figured out what was going on. We had a sunny day and my still puny energy was happy to sit on the deck in the sun and watch the antics of the busy hummingbirds.
Thanks for your visits, comments, suggestions, favs and for taking my Keei village sunset shot to the TT this week.
