Himalayan Rhododendron Bloom by jgpittenger

Himalayan Rhododendron Bloom

About 10 years ago we planted this Himalayan Rhododendron. It took 6 years before there were any blooms and now it blooms every other year. So it is a treat to have it bloom. This is the first bloom that has begun to open and I suspect you will be seeing more of them. It is about 3" diameter right now,
Thanks for your visits, comments, suggestions, favs
A magnificent capture of this new to me variety. We used to have a garden full of Rhododendrons when still living in Germany. Looking forward to seeing the beautiful blooms, fav!

Can't wait to see the flower open. Such a beautiful plant. We have lots of rhododendrons and azaleas here, but I don't think I've seen this variety before.

apparently magnificent blooms take much more time to produce. The budtip looks like a tiny pineapple.

Interesting to see the flower in this stage, I think it looks delicate and contrasts to the "sad" leaves.

The full flower must look excellent perched on its little mountain of leaves.
