Pigeon Guillemot In Winter Clothing Directing the Choir

One of the things I most enjoyed about our recent trip to the aquarium was getting to see shore birds in their non breeding winter wear. I see them in Spring and Summer on the beaches and rocky shore lines while they are in their breeding plumage but would not have recognized this as a Pigeon Guillemot. Those who have followed me for a while have seen my shots of these with their bright red feet and inside their beaks, but I think they are beautiful in their plain colors too.

What a fun shot. I love the position. When Andie and I were at the zoo, I must have taken 50 photos of ducks to get one shot like this. Barely any turned out, so I really appreciate the work that went into this to get the right timing!
