I just had a thrill of a lifetime. A friend called to tell me she had a hummingbird nest behind her house. How totally exciting. I was there about 1 1/2 hours and mom only left the nest once for a brief trip to catch some lunch. Best on black. Isn't she adorable?

OH MY GOODNESS! I love this. I had the thrill of seeing 3 young Carolina Wrens being fed on the ground while they huddled, slept, ate. SO CUTE. I have never seen a hummingbird nest. What a great shot and experience.
I'm so glad you showed her in the nest - doubt I'll ever see that. I have a pair that show up early April - then leave I assume to nest somewhere else and come back the beginning of June for the summer. Love seeing this!
What a sight - that little nest is so well constructed and a real work of art in itself - the lichens on it are fabulous. What a wonderful image this would be for a bird book! :)
