Next Time I'll Catch Them

Best on black. I'm of mixed minds about this photo...these are snowy plover which have just recovered from being endangered. I love to see Black Pearl run with such joy, but also don't want her to disturb the birds and waste their energy. They were endangered because their nests were being raided by coyotes, bears and maybe dogs. Dogs are no longer allowed on beaches that have nesting sites during nesting and baby raising season, so she won't ever hurt them in that way...but how about chasing them when they are eating? The ethical dilemmas of dog owners!
I can now do short and level hikes on firm surfaces with my injured knee so this has become a favorite spot for now.
Awesome capture. Glad your back out, at least some. Just give it time.

I can appreciate you dilemma Jane but Black Pearl would always come back to you asap if called so I don't see too much problem there. Good to see the population building up.

Hopefully the same rules would apply all year if this was going to cause too much damage. They must be coping well to have been removed from the endangered list. I really like your image with the birds in such beautiful focus. I hope your knee comes good - it can be such a long process.
