I was making a Christmas card for my granddaughter who considers the coyote her power animal and going through my photos from Yellowstone last January. I had a series of shots of a coyote pair but hadn't noticed that in this one frame the female was eating a fish! The male must have pulled it out from a little streamlet in the snow. I was delighted to find it and it was fun to go through the series of shots again to see where the fish had come from.
Thanks for your visits, comments, suggestions, favs
Lovely photo. That animal seems to have a much lusher coat of fur than our local California coyotes. But perhaps it is how the coat is set off against the white of the snow. Fav
This is a powerful image and I am Curious to know what is meant by the expression “The coyote is her power animal”? Thank you and my husband also loves this photo he loves the expression on the face and the positioning of the body!
@radiogirl I think it comes from Native American tradition...a belief that your spirit and that of a particular animal species are somehow linked and that the animal looks out for your best interest. I guess my granddaughter had a powerful experience with an actual coyote years ago that made her consider it her “power animal” or “spirit guide”. Interestingly her experience with the coyote was in a pretty built up town in the Eastern US not in the country
