It seems the best place to be when 'mum' has her camera out is inside one of the lens bags!

This is Mav, short for Maverick. Yes, as in Top Gun. Her partner is Goose. Yes, I said 'her'. You see when we got them both we thought they were boys. They weren't. Mav had eleven babies. Yes, ELEVEN!!

We re-homed 6 babies, 3 boys went to live in my boys room and 2 girls stayed with Mav & Goose. They've all got different characters, Mav is sweet and quite gentle and she absolutely adores Goose.

@lindadedman it's true, he is adorable. The most docile rat I've ever known for sure.

@humphreyhippo I didn't quite mean to get a shot like this, but I suppose we have to leave our minds open - especially when dealing with animals! ;)

Looks very sweet peeping out of the bag! I used to look after the pet white rats at school - they were so gentle!

Love this - in fact FAV. I love Top Gun as well though I think I've fused it in my memory with An Officer & A Gentleman!
posted January 9th, 2012
I shall also be FAVing this one! What an adorable picture... and with a Top Gun reference? More than enough to make me click that button. Great work :)

@judithg Top Gun is my hubby's favourite film so he got to name the rats. In fact one of their daughter's is called Meg after Meg Ryan as her character's name wasn't right. Can't remember what it was right now. It'll come to me later.

Jo, i love the simplicity of your images. The use of negative space. This balance is not very easy to achieve, so congrats! (just browsed through all - like it all - but this on best).
