Warning! Contains a jungle.

This Saturday I shot my very first wedding. I was super nervous beforehand, but I borrowed some equipment (namely, two lenses that gave me more reach than my own lenses do) from a friend and got enough of confidence to survive. And survive I did.

The challenge? The couple is a mixed race couple. A white bride wearing white and a black groom wearing black. Yup, you can imagine I had nightmares about exposing everyone correctly...

But in the end, I had a blast. I was considered a guest (I know the bride's mom, she booked me for the wedding a year ahead) and was invited to enjoy dinner and everything just as any guest. And boy, was it a feast! Delicious food, fabulous African live music... I ate myself rotund and danced myself soaking sweaty (after I had finished shooting for the evening)... Super fun!

I may have been working almost around the clock, but it didn't feel like it. Now that I've taken a first look through the batch of pics (about 1100 frames), I'm thinking there will be plenty for the couple to choose from. All I'm a bit worried about now is how am I ever going to show them a selection? I've not enough Dropbox space for all of the shots... I've been considering inviting the couple over to make the selection themselves.

But in any case, I've now done a wedding photographer gig. Survived it. Should not get used to this kind of treatment.

Oh, and this shot is the spot for their marriage ceremony (technically, a blessing of the marriage) before the final embellishments were set up and the guests arrived.
Glad it went well. You're braver than me. :)
