Bushwalking today

and found this fungus. Don't know anything about it, whether it would get bigger or open out more, but l really liked the look of it and colour. We'd never find it again anyway
It has to have a name looking like this - a prickly ice-cream!

I've had some like this lately too, but in my garden right beside the house - it's like foam oozed out of somewhere :) great capture

I'm going to tag @ethelperry as she is our resident fungi expert. Hopefully she'll be able to help. It's such an interesting one.

@888rachel thanks Rachel, would be interesting to find out which one

Pretty neat looking - lots of texture.

@888rachel and @elatedpixie this is intriguing. At first glance it looks like a young specimen with veil still in place. This means we can't see if it has pores or gills. I suspect it has pores so close it would look like velvet. It is a pity you can't find it again. If you have the chance of seeing fungi on your walks, take a small mirror in your camera bag. Slide it under the fungus and focus on mirror image. It is already a great image showing the stem and cap and I love it.

@ethelperry thank you Ethel for your thoughts, the mirror is a great idea. I don't believe I've seen this one before and the others in our group couldn't remember this one either
