This one looks tasty.

I felt sorry for the squirrels and brought peanuts for them not realizing that this would attract the blue jays. I sat by the window the other day trying to capture them and there were three of them and some large black birds but I never saw the blackbirds land.
We have a couple of Blue Jays that will get the sunflower seeds and fly up onto a branch to break the shell. Nice shot.

Such a happy little chap!!! Our jays steal the peanuts also. Even if the squirrels get a chance to bury them..the jays dig them up right away and fly off with them. Nice clear shot...great color.

What fun you have with your birdies! I've never thought about feeding them whole peanuts. Do they fly off with them or try to open them there, or both?

I love the visiting blue jays when we're in Lunenburg! They are the consummate "Piggies" however and can lay a bag of peanuts to waste in a heart beat! Your photo of this one against the pristine snow is beautiful! I'm sure you and all photographers love having this white backdrop for beautiful photos!

Superb capture! I think I see a little bit of pink tongue in his mouth! Seems like he is smiling.
A really beautiful bird...we have them in our backyard and while they are lovely to see, I dread their loud approach in spring when we have baby birds in our nests because the bluejay is a nasty bird and will destroy the bird nests. I know...nature and all but still, it is heartbreaking.
