Vintage Christmas by joansmor

Vintage Christmas

A couple of years ago I took a class from Cottage Arts on photo blending and we learned how to create a vintage looking photo. So after I took my picture I played with it to give it a vintage look. This is for my get-pushed challenge to take a photo with a vintage look representing what Christmas means to me. The ornament here belonged to my grandparents - family and memories are what the holidays are about.
@zosimasy this is my response to your challenge - I hope you approve.

Great editing, it has a wonderful vintage feel.

You're right -- that sepia processing and soft focus speak to the importance of family traditions. Vintage, indeed.

Lovely image and a great response to your challenge. I'm your get pushed partner this week. I'll get back soon with a challenge for you!

@taffy I need to read more on composition. I didn't understand why this worked better but of course diagonal lines. I am hoping when I go to three days (just three weeks from now - hurray) I can spend more time with my photography learning instead of just shooting.

Great shot. I love the way you have put this together.

terrific; fav.

@joansmor That made a huge difference for me -- when I stopped shooting every day and made it about doing something photographic each day. I've spent a lot more time on learning aspects of photography than I used to have time to do.

Nice processing!

Hi again! Thanks for the challenge and for noting the busy week this is. Likewise, for your challenge, how about taking a closeup/macro of one of your holiday preparations - cooking, wrapping packages, decorating, etc. Have a fun week!

Perfect for your challenge. How lovely that you have kept your grandparents ornament. Merry Christmas, Joan.

@dmcoile I can't see how I can fulfill what seems like a simple challenge but I have not gifts to wrap, not decorations to put out and no food to cook. The few gifts I have to give have been delivered, I have a tree with lights that's my decorations and on Christmas day I am going for a photo shoot and then stopping in to LL Beans and eating at their café. I live alone and this time of year is very stressful at work so I have decided to spend the holiday doing my most stress releasing thing - shooting pictures. I would love to do something like a triptych of my Christmas day of a story collage. Or shoot a beach closeup. But your challenge is beyond my simple Christmas.

@joansmor I would love to see exactly what makes you happy on your day. A triptych would fulfill the challenge most beautifully!
