@mcsiegle challenged me to go back to Jan and Feb of 2014 (groan only some of my worst pictures) pick one of the photos you posted than and use it for your inspiration. Well I am using two for my inspiration and trying to do a flash of red - seeing the light. If you click on my link you should see January and my Amaryllis shots and then got to February and see my desperate attempts at low key. Oh well wish I had more time to play but meeting a friend in Portland and have another idea for a shot. http://365project.org/joansmor/365/2014-01
You used two of your previous shots and combined the subject of one with the technique of the other! I’m impressed. I wish you had more time to play. I love images of flowers in this final stage of life. Good concept. Maybe could use more dramatic lighting? Don’t ask me how, though. I have a lot to learn about lighting. I’d say your mission is accomplished. Have fun with your friend in Portland and stay safe, weather-wise.
@mcsiegle I might try playing with it again tomorrow when I don't have to rush off to meet a friend for breakfast. I could have left later if I hadn't wanted to take pictures including some on The Western Prominade - which was inspired by looking back. Think I can have some for Flash of Red. Thanks for the idea.
@vignouse BUt it was a trip going back and playing with it again. Thinking a white pot is not the best for Low Key. Might try something different tomorrow with my new lighting if the pedals don't drop.
This is a good start- it could look very dramatic with some side lighting and a shadow on the wall because of the way the petals and flowers look right now. Or maybe some rim lighting from behind- that might have a very dramatic effect.
