This 20 yr. old kid is my neighbors nephew- high school drop out, jobless and smoke weeds-all the time:( he told me he can't find a job, no one hires him cause of his police records on drug related cases.Parents were divorced and he lives temporarily w/ his uncle.- I asked him if he can pose for me, he's 6'2",lean and has an "it" model features (am willing to compensate) but he refused & hates to be photographed.---gave him $10 bucks to do this shot- hope he'll change and wish him a better future.

Wow, you did an amazing job with this portrait and your edit. Hope he likes and and praying for him to get a break. What a tough spot he's in from poor choices and just being in a hard situation.
@amandal - yes, hard life sometimes push u to do something evil--told him I'll help him with a portfolio and can apply to do some light modeling but he's very difficult to deal with- he scares me sometimes specially when high!:(
You can't help those that don't want help. Some choose to be a pity case to those that will pity them ... sadly. Very kind of you to attempt to help him, jdM. .
Fantastic shot - love what you have done with it. It is so sad when people lose their way - hope he gets past it all and realises there is a wonderful life out there if you want to live it.
Great portrait ! He is beautiful and it's sad to read his short biography...I wish he could give a positive sense to his life! Life is too short to waste it. I wish him to realise it and make some changes, good luck to him.
It was $10 well spent for this shot. I hope it doesn't go up in smoke with him. It was kind of you to offer to help get him started. Hope he takes you up on it.
Wonderful image you created here Joey with your neighbor's nephew. Really heart wrenching story. My son was going down that road at that age. Fortunately he turned himself around because all of my tears, threats, and worry couldn't fix him. He had to find it in himself to make the decision that he wanted a better life. My heart goes out to your friend's nephew. Wish I could help. Hugs to you for trying to help him.
Also big fav on this image. Love it!
Fabulous shot, edit, composition...I guess the first thing is to get a high school diploma and go from there...needs the will, determination to pull himself up ...only he can make the decision to do that
@joysfocus - thanks,Joy--I have 2 nephews-(they're cousins)who were hooked/addicted w/ drugs- I feel sorry for their families -how they all suffer- we did everything to help 'em out- they've been in and out of rehab but seems hopeless--my two sisters (their mothers) only hopes & pray that someday a miracle would happen. I'm so glad your son is out and clean now:)-
Beautiful work! So sorry to hear about his misfortune, it´s a tough situation, I hope he can pull himself out of it & aww aren´t you the sweetest trying to help him, bless you Joey!
I dont blame him not wanting to use his body that way... he is learning, that is all you can say really, we have to be careful when we judge what others are doing as wrong but one of the hardest things in life is to watch someone doing to themselves and not be able to rescue them, hard every way you look at it. you have a good heart Joe
Amazing portrait and story Joe. This is so hard for everyone involved but most of all for the young man himself. He knows he's on the wrong road but getting off it is so hard. So hard for them to see the way out.
What a powerful message! I hope he did not spend that $10 on drugs, but you probably know he did. The best thing for him would be if he had a mentor, somebody who could give him a sense of purpose and self-worth so that he could break this destructive cycle. You could be such a great example, but it still has to come from him!
This is such a neat portrait and totally fits the story you shared above. So sad that so many kids these days seem so lost. Hope his future gets better
$10 well spent. and brave of you to deal with guys like this, although sometimes all it needs is just one person for them to realize they are worth something. you/re a kind soul, kiddo.
FAV -- an amazing image. I hope he liked how this artistic rendition of "take his photo" turned out -- you've paid him high respect by creating such a beautiful image.
What a lovely caring portrait of this young man you have painted! A big FAV. He is a beautiful person and i pray he finds his path. With his looks a career in modelling would be possible in our city.
Also big fav on this image. Love it!
