This chess set - The Scottish King - belongs to my daughter. i no longer play. i am very short of time today, many visitors and things to do, so this is my photo for today. in order to manage a shot today i took this just after midnight.
i played around with lighting and colour of light and decided this would do the job.

thank you to all who drop in for a look..
thank you to those who dally and comment - also for any favs or follows.. all gratefully received.. :-)
Love the light and shadow!

Lovely deep colors and tones. The shadows add a dramatic feel to the photo.

Such creative and amusing pieces. I think it would be more painful to lose a piece when it has such personality! Way t'go, doing what it took to get a picture taken before the stroke of midnight. Been there, done that in my first year here.

Very creative! You know you're hooked when you wait until the stroke of midnite to qualify your shot for the day. ;-)

@terrinorthwind Thank you.. setting the pieces out was easy but getting the lighting correct - to agree with my mental image - was quite long-winded.. like my narratives lol

@tskipper Thank you Tami.. It is only since starting with Joan and her 'lightamateur' group that i have started to explore still life and the necessary lighting set-ups. i'm finding it very interesting as well as (sometimes) quite frustrating.

@pcoulson Thanks Peter. i had fun and frustration doing this. the figures were easy, the lighting? i had an image in my mind but did not know how to bring it out. i don't know how many times the shutter was used. i kept reformatting the card - to get rid of the evidence of my inability to control the light. Eventually i made a 'snoot' out of rolled up black cartridge paper and started to get the feel of what i was trying to do.

@lyndemc Denise - thank you for stopping by and leaving your lovely comments.
Waiting until after midnight to make the shot will not be happening too often for me - i like my bed..
