While continuing my scanning of negatives project I found this. The Island is in the middle of San Francisco Bay between the SF and Oakland. A shot taken looking towards SF on a typical summer day, cloudy. Just a touch up in Photoshop.
@izzyromilly This is a B&W film negative. I was only shooting B&W back then. I need to get back into film since I have the scanner and don't need an enlarger. @jeffinvt I only real processing I did was to clean up the scratches and dust spots that were on the film. I started with B&W film and now am scanning those oldie moldy negatives. @graemestevens Thank you, am openning old boxes and finding more negatives to scan and play with. @megpicatilly Thank you, when I shot this, the Navy still had its base there. I was worried that I would be caught climbing around 'their' island and put in jail. @jaybutterfield My sister and her husband lived on Yerba Buena for years and I got to visit them form time to time, this was in the summer before the earthq uake. $7 billion for the new bridge- oh my goodness. @miata2u Thank you so much for the fav. I took this so long ago and was very happy to find the negative so I can now scan it. Digital is so much easier to clean up and way less smelly but, I do miss being in a darkroom.
@taffy Thank you so much, I haven't been back to that Island in years. No longer owed by the Navy so who knows what it is like now? @paulmann Thank you, I was only shooting B&W back then. I've never learned color processing (yet). I use an Epson flatbed but I didn't realize that I can only two strips at a time but it really does a great job. @deborah63 Thank you, the bridge has been replaced on the eastern side of the Island due to the earthquake in 1989 for only 3billion. It is a major commute route from Oakland to San Francisco. @allycoxon Thank you a great deal. Used to love to visit but haven't in years. Now the city (SF) is dot.com central and much too expensive. @jerome Thank you, The city is/was a favorite of mine. @frappa77 Thank you, scanning my old film negatives really does bring back good memories. @sketch2 Thank you a great deal.
@pickerandagrinner Thank you so very much, I was so surprised that I didn't need to do much clean up of this old negative. Film does have so many possibilities. @stephanies I am very grateful for the fav. The left side is South SF, the old Candlestick Park is there-Baseball and Football Stadium. Today that area is probably built up and so longer looks the same. This is the Oakland Bay Bridge which a part of it co-lapsed in the 1989 earthquake. They have re-built that part now only cost $3 billion.
