A wild fire is near, very near my favorite spot. A lightening caused fire jumped its containment lines and they closed the highway last night, you can see its smoke plume just to the west of the San Francisco Peaks. I am ever confident that the brave fire fighters will be able to regain control and extinguish this blaze. I also worry for their safety, it has been rather windy these past few days.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond The sky after this shot was just so intense. There have been no reports of any major problems so I am grateful.
@gardencat I hope and pray as well, the highway hasn't been reopened yet but hopefully soon.
@s4sayer So very true, since lightening is the cause I am also trust in Mother Nature and her plan.
@roachling This area south of the peaks is lovely and much less used so I may have a choice now. I saw Elk and range Cattle in the area as well.
@megpicatilly Truly appreciate the fav, so far we don't know how much the area was burned but I will update since I really want to go back and take some more shots.
@ostrowt Thank you kindly for the fav, The area to the south of the peaks is lovely and less used and could be my second new favorite spot.
@taffy Thank you. Unfortunately the fire still burns, it is up 3800 acres but in a mostly human uninhabited area. The highway which goes to the Grand Canyon is still closed as of Sun am. There are two other routes to the canyon but I hope for the best.
@yrhenwr The area is prime fire area, little rain and lots of wind to help fan the flames. The rainy season(monsoons to the locals) is near so The brave and courageous fire fighters should be getting relief soon.
@stephanies So far no rain but the wind is down some. The road still is closed, they say maybe Sunday. I am hoping that the brave fire fighters are winning the battle.
