I walk all the time but since this girl has come into my life, I am walking much more. She has me not even saying the word in her presence if I am not going to bundle up and grab the leash.
Our "W's" are learning times and I don't get to take as many pictures as I used to while hitting the pavement or trails. I realize she is has significant puppy energy but she must be schooled as to not pull since I will topple over, especially on the ice. Walking etiquette is a work in progress. 67 miles so far this month.
She looks a bundle of energy and fun. I do feel you on the need not to pull especially on icy sidewalks. My weekend house guest was a something over 80 lb German Shepherd and I was very aware of her ability to take me off my feet on an icy sidewalk. Luckily for me she is seven and has less energy and slightly more manners than most puppies but, let a squirrel bound across the path and all bets are off!
Well done you ! We can’t say the “walk” word around here either...so we just say “w” but we aren’t fooling Croz. You might be interested in this harness by a company called Walk in sync. I got one when I first got Croz because he pulled so much it was no fun going for a “w”. It is a game changer. There are others on market like this, but I like her philosophy. Such a beautiful dog btw
@rhernan She thinks that she is in charge of it all. Formal training starts next week. @gardencat She is 25lbs and strong. I am also a klutz on most days so I don't need any assistance to slip, trip or fall. @jernst1779 She is a lovely girl, she has a puppy's energy level and I think that I need to up my game. @s4sayer Thank you so kindly for the fav, she is my girl but still very playful with Tom and my sons. @octogenarian Very appreciative of the fav, thank you. She is a character and I am trying to watch what I say so I don't mis-lead her, Just so lucky to have her join our family. @samae Thank you so much for the collar idea, looking into it. She really is strong but I also know that she and I will get this walking to an agreeable level. @golftragic Thank you so kindly for the fav. I am needing to mindful of her smarts, she sees me gathering shoes, phone, jacket and bag for any gifts she might leave along the way and starts to go nuts. @eudora I try to walk at least 50-60 per month, she is really good for me and a joy to have in our family.
She looks like a beautiful Border Collie. Congratulations on your new companion. This is a wonderful photo that captures so much of what brings you your joy. A fav, for sure.
@pusspup I agree but there is a lazy part of me that doesn't. Riley can't understand that part. @fbailey Very grateful for the fav. She is a special girl. @domenicododaro Thanks, my iPhone came to the rescue as did the 20 other tries:):) @haskar So very appreciative of the fav, She is supposed to be walking beside me, we are working on that. @mbrutus Thank you so kindly for the fav. She is a rescue from the Navajo reservation. I feel very lucky to have her join our family. I've not had a young dog in a long time but she is teaching me many things. @yaorenliu I think she would just try her best to pull me everywhere. We are working on manners and patience.
