Self induced stress is ugly. I haven't been to active for the past week here but that now changes because for the past few days I have been fussing over a presentation that I gave tonight. I had been invited to give a talk about my infrared work to the local 'Photo Geeks' group in town. It was fun to share some of my work with the other photographer geeks. This is a ad-hoc group of local photographers who shoot all sorts of subjects. It was hosted by the co-owner Hidden Light, a local frame/print studio here in Flagstaff. There was a slide show about following and capturing images of Condors. I hope that maybe I can catch a glimpse now that I know where in the Grand Canyon they roost.
To be among like minded photographers who were not of a competitive nature was so refreshing and wonderful. I hope that we can have more of these meetings.
This image was an iPhone, lensbaby shot with not so great lighting but I was happy how it turned out.
I will double down and up my game on commenting. Many apologies and thanks for your patience with me.
Never apologise for not commenting or being here! Love the idea of Photo Geeks, mighg suggest we rename our camera club to that!!! Good luck with condors
@30pics4jackiesdiamond So kind, thank you. The name is great and applies to us who just enjoy the creative qualities of the art so, go for it!
@shannejw It was and I put much too much stress on myself but as with most unknowns, its natural, I suppose.
@gardencat It was what was in the display case that grabbed me. A Wisner 4x5 field camera with film holders and lens. If the money ever comes my way, this case is where I'd stay.
@haskar The display case is like a candy store, I want a great deal of what's inside. I did have a wonderful time and am re-energized to shoot more.
@lsquared I.m not sure if the other's would get this but as I am learning it isn't about what I think 'they' would like but what I see. Sharing of my IR work was fun and it was suggested that I display some around town, I will have to stew on that a bit though.
Sounds like a perfect group to me Joy. I don't belong to any camera clubs or the like and don't really want to do so. But I would join a group like you describe.
@golftragic I've tried other groups but they were competition based and I am not comfortable in that type at all. I think that maybe its a lack of self confidence. One thing about being involved with this very supportive 365 community, I am learning so much, having a great time doing my art and getting braver about it.
@joysabin Yeah, I have quite enough competition on the golf course to satisfy my competitive urges. I enjoy 365 because it is a supportive 'grown-up' community and not into trying to judge who or what is better than someone else. I've learned heaps about photography and about other parts of the world too. I'm thinking of entering a few photos into a magazine's competition but not toooo sure about that yet.
