Riley took Mr. S and me down to Sedona for a hike today. We explored Fay Canyon a bit. There is an arch near the top but one has to scramble up rocks to get to it so we listened to our knees and chose to appreciate it from afar.
Riley was ready to go when she heard a large friendly Lab make her way towards her. The Lab chose to bark a few times which echoed throughout the canyon, a most interesting sound in Riley's estimation.
This is a really lovely soft portrait. Maybe its that softness that makes it seem more than a portrait of one specific dog and more a portrait of "The Dog' in general? Or maybe I should stick to making comments before I've had my second glass of wine for the evening, and start waxing philosophical LOL.
@gardencat Capturing my RIley is often luck, pure and simple. She has a huge amount of energy and loves to explore on walks. She is learning to 'wait' while her human stops to get a shot. This time she was unsure how big the other dog was at first so she just froze. It also helps that Mr. S was holding her leash.
@eudora Our two previous dogs were labs and they both had a substantial voice. Riley is tiny in comparison and has a petite bark so, hearing a loud and powerful bark got her attention.
@amyk I got truly lucky, she was frozen still and the light was shining down on her.
@domenicododaro She is a real trooper too, thank you so much.
@gardenfolk Grateful for the fav and her trepidation. It gave me the time to focus and grab the shot.
@mgmurray Thank you so much. I do often forget how lensbabies can be a cool portrait lens.
@jernst1779 This is her first hike of the year. She and I were so happy to get out of the ice and snow. On hikes she has a longer lead and gets to explore. Thank you so much for the fav.
@robz Riley is a small petite collie but makes up for the size issue when she gets to explore. I love taking her on hikes. Thank you so kindly for the fav.
@taffy Thank you a great deal. Getting her to be still is often a challenge.
@themusketeers And to think that she is a rescue girl. We got so amazingly lucky when she came into our lives.
