Dan by joysabin

Dan

I was down at the pond this morning in the hopes of catching the resident heron with my 500mm manual lens. I was all set and he flew away to fish elsewhere.
I also encountered Dan who was walking and talking about several trending topics. I admit to being hesitant to engage his points of view so I kept my opinions to myself. Why ruin the day by arguments. We bid farewell and wished each other to have good days.
I am going to include Dan in my stranger's project. He also is my entry for this week's 52 week challenge of 'portrait in monochrome'.
Great portrait!

The use of grey tones really sets a nice mood

I'm fascinated by your way of presenting Dan to us, "walking and talking about several trending topics" could easily have turned into a negative feeling, but in your words and the lovely clouds I read difference, not animosity in your words.

I like the vantage point you took this from because you've included those great clouds behind him. Well done on the strangers and monochrome combo!

I like your pov. I wouldn't have the courage to do a strangers project.

@jernst1779 Most grateful for the fav. He was a very talkative guy.

@mikelskoog Thank you so much, very appreciative of the fav.

@quietpurplehaze I usually don't encounter anyone at the pond. He was just very eager to talk so I let him. When he mentioned talk radio I sorta knew I didn't want to go down that path and just nodded a bit. He was walking on an elevated ledge so I was shooting looking up and caught the clouds.

@bubblequeen I agree, B&W portraits are usually much softer.

@dustyloup What a most kind comment, thank you so much. I think that its easier to just let other's spout and not engage often, not worth getting swept up in their issues.

@olivetreeann There is an elevated ledge, wide enough to walk on and I was walking on the road below so I could try to catch the heron at its level. I must remember that looking up might work for some portraits.

@robz Thank you.

@ninaganci I just let him continue talking while I took shots, I think that it gave interest to him.

@nickspicsnz Thank you so much. I come and go with taking shots of strangers, after I've asked. Courage is a fleeting thing somedays.
