Star Trails 1st attempt by joysabin

Star Trails 1st attempt

This isn't really anything but a diary shot. I have wanted to try star trails for some time. My compositional elements definitely need refining but I am mostly happy with this result. I will be continuing to work on this technique when it gets a bit warmer. The temperatures early this morning were in the high 30's f. I was just fine with setting up for the 2 hours of shots as long as I could step back inside and binge on my current TV series - "The Good Fight" and stay warm, while checking on the camera once in awhile.

I did capture 360 images in total but this image only has 150 blended together. I felt that the total of 360 was just too busy. Ah, learning curves.....
WoW!

Better than what I could do! Side note..I got up at 4am today and tried to see the meteor shower but the light pollution was so bad that i went back to bed.

Excellent first attempt. Capturing star trails takes a lot of time and patience-lucky you could warm up inside in the process.

I like how it appears to make a tunnel. This is something I want to try.

Good work! My latest DSLR has an astro tracer setting but I haven't yet worked out how to use it!

@olivetreeann Go for it even if is seems to be too much light pollution. You might just be surprised at what you get.

@themusketeers Most grateful for the fav. I should try again, there isn't any cluods in the forecast for days.

@fbailey I referred back to a fellow 365'er @byrdlip and what she had done f 5.6, 25 sec @500 ISO, making 90 images and used the program starstax. I also lowered by white balance to 3900K. Try again, you never know... Also very grateful for the fav

@lostphojo Cool, not heard of that yet but there is so, so much I don't know about photography. I have done night shots before but never got lucky enough with clear skies at night before.

@bubblequeen Thank you so much,

@pdulis You are very kind, thank you.

@k9photo Give it a try, you never know.

@redy4et I didn't go to bed until 3:30am, I was wired from binging and sugar. Thank goodness I don't have to go to work any longer, weird schedules are the norm now.

@blueberry1222 Sorry about that, and thank you so much.

@gardencat I have lots of pines trees in my back yard that help block out the city lights and my neighbors actually had their porch light off, yeah! Flagstaff isn't perfect but we are basically in the middle of no-where Arizona.....

@jernst1779 So grateful for the fav and neighbors had porch lights off which some times doesn't happen.

@golftragic Thank you so much, sleeping in the next day until noon, helped too... :-)

@onewing Very grateful, thank you.

@sugarmuser Thank you so kindly for the fav.

@overalvandaan Thank you a great deal for the fav. You should give this a try if you can.

@joysabin My BIL is presently spending time with a friend in Prescott Arizona. He kind of got stuck there after returning from a cruise. At this point getting back to Canada would be difficult for him due to the lack of flights and border crossing issues so his friend has been left with a long term house guest. My BIL however does seem to be enjoying seeing that part of the country.
