@ludwigsdiana Hi Diana. I totally understand about the fascination/obsession! Ok, info:

www.myphotoartisticlife.com (techniques) http://thephotoartisticlife.com/ ( digital magazine)

Shift Art - Photoshop Tutorials for Artists
www.shiftart.com

photoshop (whatever you have)

youtube (for whatever you need to figure out quickly) P.S. I don't like the instructional videos that just play music. I need verbal step by step instructions.)

Photomorphis. Photography Evolved.
www.photomorphis.com/

skylum.com (for Luminar 2018 APP) just for fun

Movavi Photo Editor 5 (APP - change out backgrounds and skies)

ON 1 Photo 10 program

There is soooooo much I want to learn and try. It's overwhelming but I get a lot of inspiration looking at other peoples composites. I'm really working on layering textures, lighting, using different brushes, extractions of things to add to layers, painting with brushes. Oh and I also love all my Topaz apps! Also picmonkey. It's especially helpful and easier for me for faces and eyes. Have fun!

@ludwigsdiana P.S. I am also in the AWAKE program which is affiliated with my photoartistic life. AWAKE is more advanced and I believe you can only join twice a year. You have to join myphotoartistic life in order to join the AWAKE program, but they give you notice when the AWAKE program is going to open. Both of these programs are sooo awesome, helpful and the instructors will respond immediately to your questions. There is no time limit for anything! You work at your own speed. I love it!

@joysfocus Om goodness Joy, that sounds like a lot to bite on and chew! You must spend days on these wonderful images. To me it does not seem that you still have to learn anything, they are so perfect! I will certainly look into it and see if there is something easy for me to try. Thanks ever so much for generously parting with all this info, it is very kind of you, much appreciated by me :-)

@lynnz Thanks Lynn! The building is a part of Balboa Park in San Diego. I added the girl and a few other details.

@joysfocus Goodness Joy, I looked through all the info yesterday and am amazed at what is all out there. It sure must be very time consuming. As I do not have Photoshop, I suppose I cannot use the Shift Art tutorials. I have not quite figured out Skylum, but will take another look when I have more time. Will they work in Lightroom or Elements? Once again thanks for all the interesting info. I hope that I will be able to learn something ;-) Ps, if I join Photostatic life., is it a once off fee? I will not join anything with monthly fees. xx

@ludwigsdiana Hi Diana!. Photoshop artistry is $127 (today anyway) (Promotion Code G4R12A8) for a lifetime course. They take paypal or credit card and will give you complete refund after 2 months if you don't like it. In photoshopartistry I am focusing on Fine Art Grunge Compositions. Instructor is Sebastian Michaels.

You don't have to have Photoshop. I also use Elements 9 which I bought long before photoshop . Also You can use Lightroom which I don't have. It's just one more program I would have to learn. I'm already overwhelmed with what I have.
I cancelled Shift Art today as it is a monthly payment and I don't have time for it.
Make sure you choose the program or apps that are right for your PC or MAC. I use a MAC.
Yes I can spend hours on just one image because sometimes I don't like it and I will start over. I focus on layering textures and odd images and especially trying to get the right lighting or mood.
Photomorphis has awesome packages of texture and they do cost. But you can google lots of free textures or make your own.
Free images and textures: (Some of these may cost)
Pixabay, stocksnap, pexels, unsplash, gratisography flickr creative common searches, splitshire, life of pix, 2 Lil' Owls on freepik.com, magical reality designs on www.e-scapeandscrap It like scrapbooking but for digital art.
Look for any images, textures, or backgrounds that are free. Skylum is not required for anything. It's just a fun app/program that gives your photos a different mood or texture. But it costs $69.00 one time fee.
Also I learn a lot on YouTube tutorials about layering, lighting, etc. Hope this helps!

@joysfocus How silly of me, I only found this again today! I bookmarked it and forgot about it. Thanks so much for your input and all the information. In the meanwhile I do have photoshop and have started my first steps with textures. I must say that I am totally hooked and spend a lot of time with it. I too often redo as the texture does not seem right. Thanks so much, you have been a life line to me. Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful festive season :-)

@ludwigsdiana Hi Diana! So nice to keep in touch with you too! I am so hooked also on all these textures and trying to make composites. It's difficult to decide when to stop working on a photo or idea. And by the time I'm finished, it looks like something totally different than when I started. Merry Christmas to you too!
