Breakwater Bridge by jpgiorgio

Breakwater Bridge

photo 308
This is the new metal bridge connecting the breakwater outside the Grand Harbour to the mainland. The old one was destroyed in WWII, and used to rest on two metal pillars, one of which is still standing and visible as a rusty structure, whereas the second pillar has been destroyed by the elements. To have an idea of the size, a small fishing boat is visible in the foreground, and sailing yachts used to go out of the harbour through the gap in the breakwater.
