When I first came to Latham, Paul and I drove to my home town occasionally. Paul always said, "look at the wild flowers, enjoy all the color alongside the road." He told me as a kid he used to rub the wild phlox together and get soap. As the years passed I remember the phlox lessening. (or I wasn't as observant). Yesterday I took the same drive we used to take. The phlox was amazing. I have never ever seen so much of it. I had to stop and take some pictures. And as i was shooting a monarch appeared. A favorite of Paul's as well. Very special moment.
Not only is this a gorgeous photo, but I just know this had special meaning. Something similar happened to me with a mockingbird when one of my best friend's died. Your story is so beautiful. Fav.
I was told that a butterfly visiting you was someone who had passed coming to see you, so this may have an extra special meaning for you too Jill. Thinking of you.
