This one is for @copperheadglass with the song titles challenge. I have a deep respect for religious symbolism, regardless of the religion. I played around with lighting on this one... there's a metal shelf that I have candles burning behind that are casting the shadows (was going for a confessional look) and illuminated the cross by holding a lighter above it when I snapped the pic. The processing was done in PSE using 3 layers after aging the photo in Lightroom. I personally love the result and this is also one of my personal faves of my own work.
@paulaag thanks Paula! I'm going to work even if I don't. But it is highly unlikely that I'll be able to do phone interviews... no one will be able to understand/hear me
This is a fantastic photo, I love it and the shadow was ideal and the way I "see" confessionals. Did you see my Ash Wednesday selfie? similar reasoning.
I'd love to thank you all individually, but due to illness, I'm going to have to do the group thing. Anytime you take on a subject with a religious nature, you have to either go safe, which is boring, or you have to take a risk, because there is a fine line between art and blasphemy for many people. So my goal with this setup was to not only get a capture that was art-worthy, but also something that just screamed respect for the subject. The comments you've all been leaving are telling me the mission was accomplished.
Your mission was accomplished with this photo. Thanks for telling us how you set it up, which was quite interesting. A fav for me and quite impressive.
@jobo@debsphotos thank you... I didn't realize a photo could appear on the PP, go away for a couple days, and then return... does that make this a comeback?
@tabbycat thank you! I consider myself spiritual, but not religious. I didn't want to go into detail of what I believe because I didn't want to have my beliefs influence what a person took away from this photo
This is really beautiful. Love the POV and processing! :) (I don't think it is the same rosary..mine was the cheapest in the store and I think it is darker.)
