Since Paul is the one that came up with this word for the challenge, I hope this knocks his socks off.
I was squatted down and hunched over for this shot. Not a comfortable position at all. And there was some married couple off to my left fighting over fishing methods and they kept hollering over to me to NOT take pictures of them. I was doing my best to shut them out because they were taking away from the serenity of my surroundings. So of course I end up with that song "one of these things is not like the other" playing in my head while composing my shot.
@lyoungs1023 thank you so much Elizabeth!!!! @beachradish thank you! :) @calm thank you Cathy! @maggiemae lol thank you for making me smile and thank you for the fav! @thendrix58 Paul Jones @jonesp his work is amazing. I hope you're right! Thank you for faving Terry! I definitely appreciate it. @sanfil thank you Sandra @jillmstruss thank you so much Jill!
@northy well, technically its fresh water, not sea water..... but the right angle makes it appear like the sea @swilde WOW! Thank you Sue!!!!!!!!! That just made my weekend! @swguevin thank you Sheila. Technically, its not a sea because its fresh water, but its the closest I could get. I thought about shooting the moon and calling it Sea of Tranquility, but figured since I wasn't too far from something that could look like a sea, I may as well go for the drive
Well Jeff, you have not only met but exceeded my challenge! Excellent, excellent shot. I really like the soft/misty feel to it and the lighthouse looks great! This is Lake Michingan? I realised after saying I wanted to see a lighthouse to prove it was the sea, that the lake may also have some, so I googled it only to find out there are a lot of them! I'm sure this is a PP photo and good luck getting it to the Top 20! Hope my FAV helps on the way!!
@sugarmuser thank you :) @pointnshoot28 thank you Donna!! @girlie thank you, I appreciate it!! @sabrinaromahn thanks Sabrina :) @frida thank you Frida @myautofocuslife thank you @lorraineb thanks! @bdb3471 thank you Brian! I appreciate the fav! @jonesp Yay!!! I am so glad you like it! its a lake, but not Lake Michigan, but there ARE a lot of lighthouses along the shores of Lake Michigan (as well as all the great lakes) @jesperani thank you so much Jennifer!! I so appreciate it!! @newbie thank you Stacey @debbim thanks Debbi! @superbeyotch thank you Chris :) @smallenburg thank you Sandra
@pjonas Thank you Patty!!! I'm so surprised to have gotten up this morning to find all these favs! I'm all excited now to find ways of approaching the other words in the challenge as well :)
@jaboney thank you so much Mike! I truly appreciate it @allisonrap thank you Allison @ruthmouch thanks Ruth! @worthon I'm glad you appreciate it @hopess13 thank you Rachel ;) @cocobella thank you Corinne! @netkonnexion thanks! @ulpiphotos thank you so much Ulpi! Its nice when work you're proud of is shown love/appreciation from your peers, so I am very much grateful
Well this would be perfect if only there were a dragonfly skimming over the water in the right corner. JK, right back at ya! This is awesome and I just know my fave is the one that's going to tip the scales. On a more serious note, Jeff, I didn't know lighthouses were used on freshwater. Very cool and your processing is awesome.
@daisy thank you so much Kathryn! @daguerre thank you Lisa! @lauriehiggins there are lighthouses all up and down the coasts of all the Great Lakes... but I'll fill everyone in on the key to getting this one if it makes top 20
@hiquerr thank you!! @bubbaloooo thank you Matthew! @rockinrobyn thank you so much Robyn!! I appreciate it! @kwind thank you! @spiralgrooves thank you much Neil! @chummar I really appreciate it Sunil! Thank you @swguevin awwww, you are so sweet!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you :) @orangecrush Thank you Jerry! I tell you what, I actually feel more proud and more grateful with each and every fav this shot gets, because all 22 have been with absolutely no help from the pop page, which makes this a first for me. I am so blown away. I still doubt I can hit top 20 without hitting the pop page, but if this momentum can keep up, maybe it will
@jsw0109 I feel your pain, Jeff! It doesn't matter how many fav's I get, I rarely see the PP! Its nice to know when you get to the t20, it's because of your great followers!
Fav - saw this on your discussion thread! Thoes tones and the composition are just stunning! Well done for shutting out annoyingly paranoid couples ;-)
Knocks my socks off! can't believe I haven't followed you before, as I "watched" you on lots of the threads. . .I'll make up for this misdeed as soon as possible. ;->
Wow this knocks my socks off for sure. I love water and lighthouses. What a fantastic image. It's a shame we often have to endure so much of the negative side of life to get that good shot.
@georgews thank you! @nikkic thank you Nikki! @jenniferruge thanks Jennifer! @jonesp yes you did! Hopefully both of your predictions will be correct! @bmnorthernlight thank you so much!! @henrir I really appreciate that! @eyesofbetsie that means a great deal to me!!! When I get home I'll be sure to check out your album (I'm just sneaking on right now) @karo thank you! @lyno life can be very busy, and made even busier by our passion for our hobby, so I understand quite well that sometimes you just don't feel you have time to peruse a new person's work. I'm glad you did though and will respond to each comment as soon as I have the opportunity. @nyusha thanks! @k1w1 thank you Christine!!! it would be funny if they were saying it hoping I'd rebel and take their picture anyway, but I really wasn't feeling a photo of them fishing
@amandalomonaco its actually a private lake a little over an hour away. The lighthouse is 17 ft tall and is decorative rather than functional, so its almost an optical illusion @cmc1200 thank you Caryn! @cottoncandy thank you so much Mischell. I appreciate it! @juanita thank you Juanita!
wow! i'm floored by this shot. i find lighthouses romantic and this shot does not only manifest that impression, it just personifies it. the colour tones lend a sort of drama mystery and romance of course. i think i will have to finish that novel i've been trying to finish writing because i have found the possible cover for my book. you're not that costly, are you? the phrase "great shot" had been thrown around here rather loosely and often enough and i know i am guilty of that myself. but this one, this is the real great shot! thank you for this, jeff.
@shanne thank you! @sparkle thank you Juliette! I appreciate it @summerfield I'm floored by that comment! thank you so much! And no, I am not costly at all @cheribug thank you much!! @abhijit wow, thank you!!! @photos222 thank you Sybil! I'm sorry they were there too LOL @vickisfotos thankyou Vicki!
Great work Jeff!! Good job shutting out the nattering folks nearby, this pic turned out to be pure relaxation! The popularity is well deserved. Great stuff like this earns it (how more of your stuff doesn't make it to the PP, I'll never know)! :)
@reva thank you so much for such a kind comment! I'm glad you found it relaxing!
@fueast I really appreciate the fav.... the favs are a way for my peers to let me know they really appreciate a work of mine, so the favs will always mean a lot.... but the weekly chart really doesn't do that, so it doesn't matter to me if I get on the weekly chart or not.
Jeff I just started to follow this lady @hopess13 and noticed that she doesn't have a huge number of fav's so thought I would take a look at those she does have........this just leapt off the screen at me! From all the great comments you have above there's nothing original I could add........hope it's not too late to add my own little click on the fav button :)
@beachradish thank you! :)
@calm thank you Cathy!
