You don't see old fashioned one screen theatres in downtowns much anymore. Its all about the multiplex these days. I wanted to go in so bad, even though I didn't really want to see what was showing. If I'm ever back in this little town again, I'm gonna have to go in (its 2 hours away though). I absolutely LOVE the way this turned out! And being the movie freak I am, I've already decided I'm getting this blown up and framed. (it wasn't easy to get it to look illuminated either... it was pretty bright out when I took the picture
Beautiful and so nostalgic! You must go back and go inside! Maybe the inside is as ornate as the outside - good photo op! Definitely worth printing and framing! Great job, Jeff!
Jeff, it looks so neat, can you imagine what it looks like inside? What a perfect picture you took, the nostalgia and colors lit up are beautiful and it's perfectly centered. I love old theaters also and we have one that's been redone in Tampa and also in my home town in Pensacola. The history involved in them in so interesting. Doc Severson of the previous Tonight show with Johnny Carson, came and conducted in the theater in Tampa. My son Steve, who I'm sure that you have seen in my pictures, is a musician, jazz and got to play in the band.
A Fav. for me!
What a great shot of a lovely building.
We still have a cinema by us with big arm-chairs and you can buy a beer to take in with you to watch the movie.
Awesome find. I thought most old one screen theatres went the way of the Do-Do. Nice to know there aere still some in operation. I'd love to see the interior of this. When you go back take some shots inside.
We're lucky to have two old theaters in this area and both have maintained the old marquees. They're not as glam as this one though. This is a great capture and you nailed the lighting.
been time travelling again, have you? :-) when we went to niagara in early july, we stayed in a small town next to it. the houses were at least more than sixty years old, and they had a one-screen cinema, quite run down, but oh boy, i stood across and waited for people in 1950's clothing to come out. i thought of what i would do if it indeed happen. the same thing i feel looking at this photograph. indeed, 365 is like time travelling in a way. this is great, jeff.
Great composition....I know you said in the street photography thread that having people would make it better, but I think no people is apropos for the movie title :)
