The Painted Hall

photo 461
The painted Hall. designed by Christopher Wren and Nicholas Hawksmore in 1708 and painted by James Thornhill, is in The Royal Naval college ,Greenwich. It was originally used as an eating place for naval veterans who lived at the Royal Hospital for Seamen. Now the room can be hired for weddings etc. It is really beautiful.
Many years ago I was invited to a cocktail party there. The ladies all wore long dresses and the men were all in uniforms. I go week at the knees remembering. What an evening !!

Just by mentioning Christopher Wren, I know it's a place I would love. Amazing. And I can imagine that evening when you were invited: unforgettable.
