One of Diego’s favorite gifts from his second birthday is this baby doll which he can feed playdoh-like food to (and which the doll “poops” out.) Along with the baby doll he keeps in the bath, this toy really drives home the inherent care and empathy in my son. There is a better photo of Diego and his mom from this moment with Diego turned back, looking at me. But I chose this one because I love how it illustrates the care between he and his toy and how that care is mirrored by his mom and him. Love. It may not be all we need, but it’s often the thing that brings the most happiness when you’ve got it.
