The old church door by judithdeacon

The old church door

I was wondering around our church yard which is awash with daffodils but my eye kept coming back to this wonderful old, long unused, door. It is at the back of the church and in a very sad state with rubbish piled in front of it which I have to confess I cloned out, only so much indignity you can put the old door through!
Good for you to have removed the rubbish (!)...this is a magnificent door and doorway! Your artist's eye gave it the nod that was long overdue!

PS...maybe wouldn't hurt to send this photo to whomever keeps the church bulletin...and let them see the comments you'll get on 365! We all LOVE this sort of image!

@Weezilou Thanks for all your lovely comments and Favs. I think I will follow your advice but this is a very strange parish, we have two churches in the same churchyard. One is used for services and the other, this one, is occasionally used as a church hall. The two churches were built as a result of a family fued in the dim and distant past!

Wonderful!

@judithdeacon How bizarrely humorous that "two churches" were built over a family squabble! Seems a bit of overstatement regarding this Christian incivility! As is said, "Time Heals" and now we can find the humour in it!

The history behind your photo is as fascinating as the photo itself. Thank you for sharing both.
