Something for the stingers

Witch hazel growing in a slightly neglected spot just near my house. I tried to grow it once and it died - obviously there's a limit to the neglect they can endure. Highlight of the day was a walk with Rebecca at lunchtime - not much competition as the rest of it was shopping, working and cleaning but that doesn't mean it wasn't as splendid as ever.
One or two pathetic flakes of snow as we walked back had me envying @fueast having a white winter wonderland to work with...
Beautiful, love the focus.

Such a beautiful shot and subject! Mine appears to have 'died' during the dry summer. One of my favourite trees.

Reminds me of the remnants of a party popper. Lovely green though.
No snow here either, unsurprisingly!

I like witch hazel (I would!) Went looking for some in the winter garden at Hilliers and found a few bushes but the bright pink and bright orange ones from last year were absent - perhaps too early for them.

It looks a bit like flattened strands of spaghetti! Like it though and it's pretty tree.

A different sort of plant photo here - I love the name witch-hazel!

Lovely shot, Judith. Don't feel alone in the witch hazel failure department. I had no luck with my attempt to grow it. I suppose it's not one to plant and forget, which is my gardening style. ☺
