Come on the U's! by judithg

Come on the U's!

Manchester United play Cambridge United in the 4th round tie of the FA Cup tomorrow night. Those of you unfamiliar with the English football leagues need to know that this will not be an evenly matched game. Manchester United are at number 4 in the Premier league whereas Cambridge are number 12 three divisions below. This is the beauty of the FA Cup - and sometimes David beats Goliath.....
Exciting stuff. Even those of us with only a passing interest in football can be excited about this! Good to record this event.

We saw in American football, that on any given day. . . anyone can win. My husband (in Tacoma, Washington) is a rabid English soccer fan. MLS fan too

Whenever we travel abroad and people ask where we come from we always say "near Manchester" because the whole world seems to have heard of Manchester United and they seem to have fans in the most obscure places. When we were in India we met one particularly enthusiastic fan who listed lots of Manchester players including David Beckham. When we told him David Beckham didn't play for Manchester any more he was practically crying. However, despite living so close to Manchester we have no interest in football - it's all rugby in our house.
