Popped over to Newnham this afternoon to check up on the punt swan. She was stretching her legs and then had a rummage under the feathers to turn one of her eggs. It's a biggy - couldn't see how many she had altogether though.
A good thing - I went out because I had to and it was very lovely despite the cold wind so I was glad.
The apple blossom smells gorgeous.
The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton - loved it.
How lovely to see her turning her eggs.......I love the way swans mate for life. We are all upset to note that the Swan that nests every year on a pond in a field right up to the main road has not come back this year. The two parents have been coming back to the same nest for years but no sign of them this time.
@happypat :0((( one of the others I photographed last year hasn't nested this time - don't know if hubby is missing or what - they were never very competent. And I can't go on check on the other because Monty won't go!
Lovely shots. I've been visiting our local swan pond for about 6 years, with Betty and they have only produced cygnets once, despite nesting every year. Of course they were successful with their breeding this year when I wasn't there!
