Having spent long days and evenings working this week we planned a trip to London. It was unusually unsatisfactory including weather which was dreadful and we ate at Borough Market with rain pouring off the awning. There was lots of building work where some quite big buildings have been demolished (mostly to do with Crossrail I think) which leant a dystopian air to the city in the damp, grey light and we were rather dictated to by avoiding long walks on my sore foot. However, there were redeeming features - we caught an exhibition at the Fashion & Textile museum before it ended - Louise Dahl Wolfe was a pioneering fashion photographer for Harper's Bazaar from the 1930's to 1950's and was one of the first people to work in colour, controlling the whole process from taking the photo to ensuring the magazine was printed to get the colours correct. I can't remember which designer features on the mannequin - should have taken notes.... Our trip to made.com to look at dining chairs was a bit of a waste of time (except to rule them out) but it's opposite Foyle's bookshop so we could use the extra time we had acquired very profitably in there and then we managed to get hold of a black cab to take us for a good meal in Hackney with Adam and Charlotte. We then managed to forget that Adam had told us to look at the light displays at King's Cross and got on an early train which only stopped in Cambridge despite the fact we had left the car at the new Cambridge North station...a day of ups and downs.
How lucky you are to live near enoughLondin to pop down fir the day! My ideal! I remeber siting in that draughty place called Borough Market but great atmosphere. Foyles bookshop! 😍 Great image Judith except I never wear anything yellow!
Hellooo to you too! Like this - I have a thing about yellow at the mo, little bits are starting to collect in my crockery cabinet! Glad you ruled out Made.com, I don't think they get all that good reviews on quality. Hope you're well!
@blightygal yes v well but a bit busy so only dipping in here erratically for a couple of weeks. Hope all's well with you and made.com = tat! If they've got battered stock in the shop it tells you something I think. Loaf on the other hand had kids climbing all over their sofas and they looked fine (even though I had to restrain myself from enforcing discipline - bloody middle class parents!
Ha ha, you did well not to tell em off! I am not as polite as you :-)
Good luck with all your doings and glad you're well, hope get time to put your feet up with a cuppa occasionally!
It sounds like you had some serious challenges. Things don't always work out but you got home safely and had some good parts to the day. I enjoy this fashion shot. Lovely to see you back again.
Good luck with all your doings and glad you're well, hope get time to put your feet up with a cuppa occasionally!
