We discovered Felton because I wanted to go to the excellent yarn shop there. I’ve bought online before and they have a selection to rival the London shops. You can pay a lot of money for hand dyed and specialist yarns so either Felton is a very wealthy and discerning knitting obsessed small Northumbrian town (actually it clearly is pretty affluent but it is also very small!) or the internet allows her to stock such a lovely range. Nigel took himself off for a walk round the village while I browsed (I was very restrained) and after an excellent coffee and millionaire’s shortbread at The Running Fox we headed off up towards St Michael’s church. I’ll post a photo from the outside because it’s really unusual - it looks like it has no roof and I thought it was derelict - but it it does have a roof and also has some beautiful windows and a thriving, young community judging by the area set aside for Sunday school.
Weather: overcast but pleasant
Covid: masks but otherwise ok
Good thing: discovering new places & we weren’t accosted when we accidentally trespassed.
@cashep19@kjarn@madamelucy@jamibann and rather sad - presumably a casualty of WW1 but his grandfather who was very well regarded had 3 wives so this grandchild could have been very young.
