Feisty flower

In the run up to Christmas, when temperatures were hitting -10C, these little violets were looking decidedly dead, but as soon as the thaw came they sprung back to life as though nothing had happened. They are the only colour in the garden and have been battered by rain all day. I would have liked more time to get a better shot but while my back was turned Monty the dog was having a great time digging up all my spring bulbs and covering himself from head to toe in very wet compost. Not quite so pretty as the violet....
Beautiful!

That is so lovely - beautiful colour and focusing. How lovely to find in your garden - and how not so lovely for doggie to dig up your bulbs - little minx ...

@slmatntwi @afronaut @bethnewell @suzannascott @sarahbolt @islawight @bill_d Thanks for all your nice comments - I learned a lesson from this that I shouldn't assume 'dark day equals no colour' - and to keep an eye on the dog!
