Lux perpetua luceat eis

I am learning so much doing this project. It was a glorious morning this morning so I took a diversion home past the Scott Polar Museum. This is a small but fabulous museum (with fairly limited opening hours if you ever plan to visit) which contains many personal effects from various Antarctic expeditions including the fateful one of Captain Scott. There are very touching last letters which always make me cry! This statue of a young man stands outside looking up to the sky and it's it's very beautiful. I hadn't realised until today that it was sculpted by Captain Scott's wife Kathleen who was taught by Rodin. I don't know whether I've done him justice but since the Latin inscription means 'Perpetual light shine upon him' (I think - Latin scholars feel free to correct!) it's the one I went for.
beautiful picture Judith... it looks like a lovely day in Cambridge!

So beautifully photographed, Judith. Love all of your interesting factoids regarding the museum. And I believe you are correct about the translation.
