Some days I come home thinking I have no decent shots and when I look on the computer I get a nice surprise. Today I wandered smugly home wondering which amazing shot I was going to chose only to find nothing was quite what I wanted. And worse, my shortlist was given short shrift by my sternest teenage critics. This was the winner - not taken from quite the right angle but I couldn't move over to the right place because a child in a highchair was trying to grab Monty - I'm sure David Bailey never had these issues.
I've photographed the University Messenger Service bicycle before - it being a lovely Cambridge Blue Pashley (rather spoilt by the modern carrying equipment I feel) - but there was something missing. It turns out that what was missing was a man checking his watch. He's standing at the entrance to Gonville and Caius who were in the process up putting up scaffolding to ruin a few more photographic opportunities for a while!!
Very nice photo but I know the feeling! My camera, like my sons, enjoys proving me a liar. Every time I think I have the most amazing shot I upload to my computer and find nothing even remotely acceptable.
Its a difficult job to get the perfect shot, But sometimes its these littte annoying thing that make the picture more interesting, Its a beautiful entrance
Beautiful colour against the stone. Agreed the panniers don't suit it, they should get a box bag for the back and a better basket for the front (I'm fussy about nice bikes) !
